NATION WORKSHOP ON HOW TO BUILD GOOD QUALITY AND DURABLE ROODS
 
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport organized a one day national workshop on how to build good quality  and durable roads which was held at Phnom Penh hotel on 11 May 2010. This workshop was presided over by  His Excellency Tram Iev Tek, Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The national workshop was sponsored by Provincial Rural Infrastructure Project under the IDA credit no. 3822-KH of the World Bank.
 
The presentation of the workshop was prepared and compiled by HE. Lim Sidenine, Secretary of State and Technical Team of General Department of Public Works. This workshop is aimed at (1) building roads with good quality, safety, and effectiveness; reducing in the utilization of the state budget for road maintenance; and (3) alleviating poverty and improving livelihood of people.
There were approximately 320 participants comprising of technical officers for the ministry of public works and transport, concerned development partners, contractors, construction supervision consultants, association of land transport, Cambodia Board for Engineering, concerned ministries, students of Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) and Toek Thla Institute of Technology, and provincial governor.
 
The workshop began with the opening remark by His Excellency Tram Iev Tek, Minister of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, following the presentation on how to build good quality and durable roads by HE. Lim Sidenine, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public works and Transport.
The participants to the national workshop were divided into 6 six discussion groups comprising of around 30 members who were required to comment on the findings of the technical teams by agreeing or adding any other thoughts. Each group was assigned to have a group representative to present the group’s comments and secretary to record the output of the discussion. The group discussion took place one before the lunch break and another hour after lunch break. After the successful group discussion, the representative of each group was requested to present their comments to the full plenary of the national workshop.
 
Following the presentation of the each group representative, HE. Lim Sidenine wrapped up the output of the group discussion by checking each point raised by the group discussion. The new issues and solutions were incorporated into the strategy. The national workshop was ended by the thanks expressed H. E Lim Sidenine on behalf of His Excellency Tram Iev Tek to the participants for active commitments and contributions to this workshop.
 
  The national workshop was televised in TVK, Bayon TV, and Apsara TV on 11 and 12 May 2010. It was also publicized in the local news of Rasmey Kampuchea on 13 May 2010. For further documents, the workshop was filmed and produced into a DVD.
